#Today is the day!

After 11 months and 6 days my dad finally gets to come home!

When he went for a surgery almost a year ago, no one guessed that he’d be away for so long. It’s been a long road.

Kind of fitting that the first day of spring, life begins anew. We’re going to celebrate and he gets whatever he wants for supper—no more hospital food!

@action_jay Oooh, I'll give it a go! We had tried a different music bot at one point, but it kept crashing my friend's Discord whenever we tried to use it.

@action_jay Ooh, these playlists also look slick for D&D shenanigans.

(Total aside, but it's too bad I mostly play on Discord, because I find it difficult to include music. Normally I love punctuating a session with some good music.)

My challenge is that by and large I can't have music with words playing as I write. I'll get too distracted, especially for when a certain word or phrase eludes me and then I can't concentrate enough to find it.

I do, however, like listening to such music when I want to think about writing but not write. Like... to delve for inspiration.

The most difficult challenge for writing... What music to play in the background to set the right mood?

Despite having a later supper than normal, my cats were both quite unwilling to let me sleep in and insisted on having breakfast on time. If only my partner weren’t such a sound sleeper, I’d at least have a chance that they wake her up first.

Ah well… I can make myself fancy coffee to make up for it.

So after I zoned out in a meeting just repeating “I can’t do this. I can’t do this. I can’t do this.” in my head l, I figured it was a good time to log a sick day.

@babe A friend sharing this quote with me last year unlocked a lot for me… both in my writing and in seeing myself.

There are a bunch of things around me claiming it’s spring. Games with lovely pink and green theming, brands with their spring menu.

I’m here bundled up for a -29°C (-20°F) wind chill, looking down the street, and I think the rest of the world is a little premature.
