@golgaloth There must be a hook for why the character in finding and making a party successful. It doesn't have to be deep - money, power, adventure, revenge, knowledge, whatever. But there has to be something that keeps them from just saying "eh fuck it I'm out of here" the moment the party doesn't do what they want to.

German "Treasure Hunt" folk tales are weird enough to fit into plenty of role-playing games. Here is an example:From time to time, a "golden wagon" rolls out of lake known to be inhabited by water spirits. This wagon has no visible driver, but moves around on its own accord and patrols the limit of the territory belonging to the water spirits.People can attempt to capture this price. I was interested in what a real topographic map would look like compared to the overland maps in B2 The Keep on the Borderlands and L1 The Secret of Bone Hill. Grabbed a public domain topographic map and started tracing it.This is just the first couple of hours of work on it. Tedious. Not sure if I will finish it out as some complete map as it is just an experiment.B1 and L1 maps are very basic and smooth compared to most real topographic maps.#dnd #rpg #ttrpg #osr #maps
