@MastodonEngineering Lots of focus on redesign and new features but I wish you'd focus more on basic shortcomings that have been around for a long time.For example there's been a PR open for more than a year that addresses a major shortcoming of federation: backfilling posts to empty profiles of users. No real explanation for why it can't be merged in experimental form...

@daniel @tux you can just replace it. Redis/Valkey is ephemeral/cache for mastodon, all the important data is in the postgresql database.
