I was driving home from work and I passed by a truck selling plants on the side of the road. I didn't have any cash but I went back to talk to this older gentleman and his very old mother. They said they don't stay out long if they aren't selling but said, "we live right down that road, if we're not here we're there. Stop by on Monday."$.50 a plant, grown locally by some old folks who will invite you to stop by their house. That's how it should be.#gardening

Success. Made it to the local plant nursery that has a particularly good selection…IF you make it prior to Mother’s Day. That day, half the town descends on the place. I still need to get some more flowers, but I think I got all of the vegetable starts I need for this season. Beans and zucchini and such I’ll be planting via seed, but I need a jumpstart on things like tomatoes. #gardening

Picked up a few plants today from @PHD_FARM for the garden and yard this year. Got some eggplants, ground cherry, Huckleberry, bee balm, and lavender.Gotta go back this weekend, though, as the cucumber plants weren't quite ready yet.Still such a cool concept and great use of normally underutilized yards. When we moved from Caledon to Barrie at the end of June last year we brought a selection of plants from our large garden. Although we abused them terribly last summer, ignoring them in temporary containers until the fall, everything appears to be growing. So far only the daffodils are flowering but we have 3 different types of tulips that we hope will bloom this year.
