    @tonymasiello 😂
    I’m actually FROM Boston.
But I’ve lived in Vancouver Island for close to 19 years now.

I live pretty elevated and am surrounded by mountains, so sometimes it snows intensely for a half hour and then stops.

None of it accumulates. It just makes for a nice visual.
I essentially live in Canada’s equivalent to California, just with the occasional bout of mountain dandruff.

    BRIAN ENO
    Music For Films
    1978 UK pressing

A very loose-y goose-y batch of songs that Eno intended for filmmakers to use in their movies, though no films in particular.

A lot of them are very short, and the gear that Eno used would also find its way onto David Bowie’s LOW.

Some of this material actually DID make it into some movies. The two most famous examples being Rock N Roll High School with The Ramones, and the killer 1986 John Woo movie A Better Tomorrow.

This is not something I listen to often, but since it’s snowing like a motherfucker outside right now, I figured it would be a good choice.

    GIRLS AGAINST BOYS
    Nineties Vs. Eighties
    2018 U.S. reissue

Another beloved #90s band for me.
They were so fucking good. I have no idea why they weren’t able to break through.

Nineties Vs Eighties was the first thing the band ever put out, and it’s fascinating.

The two sides are two different recording sessions, and are very different from one another.

The “nineties” side is how most people remember them from later in the decade. The types of songs that would appear on their killer 5 album run, starting with Tropic Of Scorpio in 1992.

The “eighties” side however, is a bit different. The band’s lineup is different, so the music has a much different sound than what would come later. This side has Fugazi’s Brendan Canty on drums. These tracks are a fascinating compare and contrast for what followed, & gives a great look into how the band sounded when they first started.

A sadly forgotten #80s #newwave #artrock band from my old neck of the woods in Boston, Massachusetts.

This was the first of two records these two ladies made, and yes, I said ladies.

Jittery, jagged, and awesome tunes written by Ann Prim and Kearney Kirby, two very talented musicians who named their band after a group of German expressionists from the early 20th century.

“Flatland” absolutely SMOKES, and “Pictures Of The Homeland” has such a cool pocket, courtesy of the band’s awesome rhythm section, Alvan Long and Raphael Gasparello.

    Really killer record.
Still have never seen their second one, Work That Dream.

    RY COODER
Blue City - Motion Picture Soundtrack
    1986 U.S. pressing

This is one of those that you could include in that “Great Soundtracks To Awful Movies” discussions.

Blue City was SO bad, that first-time director Michelle Manning would never be allowed to direct a major studio motion picture ever again.

    It’s a HORRENDOUSLY bad movie.

Luckily, it’s not ALL bad, because it gave us a really cool soundtrack compliments of the great Ry Cooder. It’s far and away the best part of the movie, and if it was a backdrop to a DIFFERENT movie, people would know it more.
