THE WOLFE TONESRifles Of The I.R.A.1971 Canada pressingA lovely, VERY IRISH sounding folk record for a Sunday afternoon. I found this in a thrift store not long after I moved to Canada around ‘07. It just looked really cool, and I assumed it would be some Irish folk record, and I was right. However, I wasn’t prepared for how this album would catch me. I absolutely fell in love with it. It’s got all the bells and whistles of traditional Irish folk balladry. Banjos, guitars, sing-along pub chants, whistles… the whole works. However… it’s got a kind of political rebel spirit underneath, the same kind that all the punk rock I listened to as a kid had. I just adore these songs.Particularly “The Sun Is Burning”.
