It also has documentation for anyone confused about the rules! This is a Blackjack varient I made based on Capcom's RE7 DLC of the same name. You try and guess your opponent's bottom card and modify the conditions of the game to be more favorable to you. Check it out at https://rmichie.com/wclient

I’m so grateful that none of my family are on mastodon so I can come out here to complain about drama on rare occasions.@technocounselor If you can't spill tea on your social media then it's not social media.

So systemD added a birthdate field to the JSON records managed by userdb:https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/40954@Tamasg As much as I like Linux, there are unfortunately not enough distributions out there, so at least this goes some way to solving that problem.

So systemD added a birthdate field to the JSON records managed by userdb:https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/40954@Tamasg Hey man, it's your choice! You don't have to use the birthday thing if you don't want to, we are just building an optional field that is optional because we are options people who like options. Why are you mad at us? You wouldn't hit a guy with glasswes, would you?

https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/40954A PR to revert this was denied:
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/41179This is apparently an attempt to satisfy new legal requirements in various US states and elsewhere around age verification.
My question: since we've already established RedHat's willingness to jump and twirl for Palantir like trained seals, when will they jump and twirl for us? Or do the applicable laws not count in this case because they only affect disabled people?

Anyone wanna buy this for me and I'll produce a nostalgic review of the thing.@serrebi I am thinking about getting one for myself. It is difficult because the Evolve also seems like it could be good. It has far better specs and, since I am on windows already, it will probably integrate with my life more seemlessly. But I do like the form factor, and also it's conceivable that it could perform just as well or better considering how bloated windows is. And I like the vibe better, in general.

@iaruffell it's not true that it's on a single USA state, more countries are approving laws like this, and Brasil has since last week one that is in force.@DiogoConstantino @iaruffell In fact there are several. Europe has the European Accessibility Act:
European Accessibility Act (EAA)
The EAA sets EU-wide accessibility requirements for certain products and services which are key for the inclusion of persons with disabilities in our digital world.
European Commission (commission.europa.eu)
The technical conformity definitions for this law are covered under EN 301 549:
https://www.etsi.org/deliver/etsi_en/301500_301599/301549/03.02.01_60/en_301549v030201p.pdfIn the US there are a couple applicable laws. There's the rehabilitation act of 1973, most notably section 504 which prohibits denial of service on the basis of disability for federal programs and activities that receive federal funding.
There's also section 508 of the Americans' with Disabilities app which mandates all government websites and applications used internally be made accessible:
https://www.section508.gov/And there is the CVAA which requires consumer digital communications and video equipment or apps be made accessible, enforced under the FCC via a civil complaint process:
https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/21st-century-communications-and-video-accessibility-act-cvaa
Then there is the Accessible Canada act
https://www.chrc-ccdp.gc.ca/individuals/accessibility/about-accessible-canada-actIndian Rights of Persons with Disabilities act
https://cdnbbsr.s3waas.gov.in/s3e58aea67b01fa747687f038dfde066f6/uploads/2023/10/202310161053958942.pdf (they actually have three aplicable laws, this is just the most recent)And so on.
The definitions of how to comply do varry and overlap somewhat, but many of them sight the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines as the gold standard
https://www.w3.org/WAI/standards-guidelines/wcag/HTH! Surprised you didn't know any of this, some of these laws have been on the books for decades.

@iaruffell it's not true that it's on a single USA state, more countries are approving laws like this, and Brasil has since last week one that is in force.@DiogoConstantino @iaruffell Sorry but are there not relevent accessibility laws that are also not specific to a certain state or country? In fact they have been around much longer, so if anything, accessibility should be a higher priority.
-
@iaruffell Oh I know this one!@iaruffell Oh I know this one! It's because age verification is a priority of lawmakers (for data collection purposes) whereas no one cares about people with disabilities.
Hope this clarifies the situation.

Can anyone recommend a screen reader #accessible webapp/Windows application (not mobile app) that'll let me cross-post to Masto and Bluesky? -
omfg finally i am free of gboard's bullshit corrections that constantly change the entire meaningusing this instead: https://github.com/palsoftware/pastiera/and it's so much better than every other outdated keyboard system for physical keyboard phones@holly Good to know. Hmm. I may be out of options. I don't dislike the fairphone but it is not exactly meeting my needs at the moment. I was thinking about the clix thing but the keyboard is too small, and clearly meant for thumb typers which is not what I want. I don't understand why they don't put the phone in landscape to make room for more keys.

The titan II? I was thinking about it but was concerned about updates, no lineage, etc.

First Contact is a great movie but they really screwed up the borg lore.First Contact is a great movie but they really screwed up the borg lore. Voyager made it worse. I like to imagine that they only have one cube. It goes a long way to explaining why they are the way they are, and also makes them scrappy underdogs, balancing their power without actually making them any less dangerous.

I'll be dropping more of my CSUN interviews here as I get them edited for conciseness.@jcsteh yeah I'm not sure if she missed it or just didn't care. Her sales tactic was pretty aggressive.

I'll be dropping more of my CSUN interviews here as I get them edited for conciseness.@twynn I don't know but I mean, they were applied by the LG people, I assume that's where they expect them to go. I further assume the reason why they're there was because if they were on top of the controls directly the pressure of the stickers would cause the machine to think you were holding the button down? Either way I feel like that in and of itself is an accessibility problem, not to mention the fact that you still need to be able to see in order to know where they are supposed to go. Just really poorly thought through the levels.
-
I'll be dropping more of my CSUN interviews here as I get them edited for conciseness.@mcourcel the stickers were the blind accessible example from the kit. It also has other stuff kind of things like larger knobs or buttons that are easier to press if you have motor impairments.

I'll be dropping more of my CSUN interviews here as I get them edited for conciseness.@twynn there was a raised something above the Braille yes, I'm not sure if it was a line or printed symbol. Either way the control was a good inch above where the end of the sticker was. Maybe I'm exaggerating but you know, there was space.
