Hey Fediverse!Do you have #recommendations for good, affordable #webhosting, preferably of the type that allows me to have fun with nodejs shenanigans? Preferably EU-based, privacy-friendly, etc.DEI, environmentalism and other woke stuff are plusses too.I'm pretty happy with my current webhosting at weboke.nl, but I sometimes run into #nodejs issues that would require me to upgrade to the most expensive tier. So I'm checking to see what the alternatives are like.#askfedi #webdev

Was früher viel Zeit, *Kreativität und technisches Know-how* erforderte, gelingt künftig in wenigen Minuten. #Worldsoft #WebDev #Frontend #KI #KIslop

Every time I create a new HTML project, a small chunk of my time is spent resolving horizontal scroll issues I was sure I had finally got right. Here is my peace offering today to the horizontal scroll demons that lurk in the Wander project: https://codeberg.org/susam/wander/commit/166ecfc#programming #webdev #opensource #indieweb

Hi there!A new Update of Questlog just dropped. I improved the Reviews based on your feedback. And a small feature I always wanted to have. It's finally possible to rate a game without writing a review. So after you finished a game it's only one click to say if you liked it or not. Nice! Also if the reason you didn't want to write a Review in the past was, that you didn't want to spoil anyone, you now can mark a Review as Spoiler so the text is hidden. As usual there are many smaller (and one noticable) changes and improvements to discover. If you don't want to guess, the unfiltered Changelog is in the blogpost that also goes more in detail for the main changes.https://blog.questlog.app/2026/03/22/questlog-1-2-0-reviewed-reviews/#Questlog #IndieDev #WebDev #BuildInPublic

Anyone have recommendations on a simple share button for my #wordpress blogs? I removed all the plugins for they were cluttered and a nuisance, and I keep seeing simple buttons like this but have no idea what plugin to use. It has to be free with no pro version, or if for sale, then a one-off payment rather than subscription. #blog #webdev

Job I've been interviewing for did not work out, but it reminded me to post that I'm looking for my next opportunity! I work on the front of the front end, especially with semantic HTML and increasingly modern CSS, and I'm a huge advocate for accessibility. A good design system makes me swoon. Currently director level for a web team but would love to get back to my coding roots. My React is rusty but I can pick that back up, no problem. Let's do this! ‍#GetFediHired #FediHired #WebDev #FrontEndDev

@mglaman if I was to purchase for the whole team in Manila to use, would 100 USD seem reasonably to you?

Built a free HEIC to JPG converter because I got tired of iPhone photos not opening on anything else.Batch convert, adjust quality, and it all runs in your browser — nothing gets uploaded.Give it a try: https://www.screensnap.pro/tools/heic-to-jpg#FreeTools #iPhone #MacOS #Photography #WebDev

@ammarfaizi2@gnuweeb.org @Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com @marcelschmall@infosec.exchange the retval from poll can help optimize the traversal as it indicates the number of ready file descriptors. I know it is still not as efficient as epoll, but if you find all ready fds earlier, you can break the iteration earlier too: ready_fds = poll(fds, 10000, -1); if (ready_fds < 0) { handle_error(ready_fds); return; } for (i = 0; i < 10000; i++) { if (ready_fds == 0) { // All ready fds have been handled. // Break out of the loop early to // avoid unnecessary iterations. break; } if (fds[i].revents & (POLLIN|POLLOUT)) { handle_events(i, fds[i]); ready_fds--; } } If you are lucky: that one client is not in the last index, you can break earlier.

In the last few months, I started using large language models (LLMs) to help me with coding projects and solving computer-related problems. I want to take a moment to reflect on my use of this technology and how I'd like to engage with it going forward.I'm sharing this here because I want to get the perspectives of fedi folk on this issue, so feel free to leave a comment on this post with your thoughts on the topic. Also, if you know any articles or videos that you think I should check out to expand my perspective, please share them!https://yurupath.net/garden/how-i-use-llms/#webDev #AI #LLM

@NetscapeNavigator @forgetpassword Eich worked for Netscape and started the Mozilla Project, Mozilla Foundation, and Mozilla corporation. His slime is on pretty much everything related to Firefox. It was obvious he was bad from the get-go. No decent person would have created Javascript.
