#OTD 9 February 1827, Anders Nilsson, 30, and Maja Cajsa Nilsdotter, 28, were married in Askeby parish, Östergötland. Maja had been orphaned at age 17, but their lives looked normal for the time and place. They waited to marry until Anders became a crofter and their first child was born a year after the marriage. Unfortunately, every single one of their five children died young. Two died from thrush, two were noted as dying from stroke, one died at age eight from dysentery. Child mortality was terrible before modern healthcare. This is a very sad dead-end branch in my family tree.

#3GoodThings #ThreeGoodThings1. It was warm enough today to go outside and clean up after the wild Saturday wind. I picked up branches, righted the patio chairs and untangled the windchimes.
2. Salmon.
3. Had a nice long call with my daughter. She is no longer working as a 911 operator because she found something much better for her mental health. That's a very good thing.
