      @skinnylatte (This message got disconnected from its thread in my timeline and I was very confused on first glance until I got to the third sentence.)

        @skinnylatte maybe they are just saying they treat all the people the same, but go ahead and inturperate it as that for everyone if that makes you feel better about yourself

          Everyone else: here’s why you’re wrong and I know better than you!

          sounds bad. but the premise is still nonsensical. how do i know what skincolor the other people have?

          What premise is nonsensical specifically?

              @terribletowelie @skinnylatte Impact trumps intent. If you’re feeling defensive about this, maybe sit with that a bit.

                @maxleibman @skinnylatte it did. It was called playvicious. But they got harassed out of here, too.

                  @rrb @skinnylatte don't know you dude but the first step is not to ask nonwhite people to help you learn not to alienate other nonwhite people (this is a genuine answer)

                  in other practical steps, please follow more Black users (and users of color in general) and think about and boost their posts. if you aren't sure the joke or whatever you want to make is going to land, if you don't know them in general, reply less. decide not to.

                  if racial dynamics confuse you, you should read some books too.

                  @aetataureate @skinnylatte

                  I was not trying to be cute. I, honestly, was not aware that this site was alienating to minorities. I was wondering in what ways it is annoying to minorities. With that, what I could do to make it less so.

                  No, you owe me nothing. I expect nothing from you. But, I am tired of being part of the problem.

                  The original post was complaining about the current state. Asking how it could be better does not seem (to me) to be counterproductive.

                    @rrb @skinnylatte my answer was sincere and has concrete steps for you to follow. you should do it

                    eta: i'm realizing you're talking to me as though i am not white (i am white), i said your post was cute or a joke (i didn't), etc. no, i am giving you concrete advice of exactly what to do. my bio literally says white right at the top. maybe looking more and being more curious about other users is a good start too

                      @stefan @zkat @skinnylatte The question was addressed (rhetorically) to people who disbelieve that Black users have been made uncomfortable here.
