@Pine_Affinity @benroyce @Netraven @mcnado oh no! The Hill!?! Well if a tabloid said it, that certainly gives you an excuse to stay home and not do anything!

      @Pine_Affinity @benroyce @Netraven @mcnado "why would I vote"

You wouldn't. It would interfere with your carefully cultivated worthlessness.

my partner will not donate to DSCC, which is mailing us in the postal mail all the time for contributions, until he is gone. all money begs are returned in the envelope with no money, but sharpie art and words explaining that constraint very explicitly.

...going back to the original post by @mcnado , perhaps a thing to test in primaries is whether the candidates support properly requiring AIPAC to register as a foreign agent. they are lobbying on behalf of Israel ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_Agents_Registration_Act#Allegations_of_selective_enforcement

@screwturn if only there were, actually, a "cast them all into a volcano" option

then only the most confident and thoughtful persons would run.

however, I know Nevada has a NOTA option on their ballots. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/None_of_These_Candidates

Thanks, It never occurred to me to look it up. I guess it's just too obvious and thought folks would have said something if it existed, well, either that or boy am I dense. I'll go the the former to salve my wounded ego. . . 8*) The Volcano option is sure enticing tho as a permanent solution.

I agree with you that there is a qualitative difference between them and that not voting at all or even voting for trump is beyond stupid.

Still, blaming the current situation solely on them is ignoring reality. Every US president has killed many thousands of people, many of them noncombatants.

The USA is an imperialist state which is controlled by capitalists. They are the driving force behind this.

It is like pumping the brakes one meter before the cliff. People need to organize

Even tho we don't have much choice in a presidential election we have massive choice in House & Senate. If we pick those candidates there it will put pressure on the President . . . But that requires fore thought Maybe even 5 thought. But only 6 years tho 2 would be enough.

I share your frustration. It is pretty much the same everywhere.

But it is also not completely true. People are organizing. Historically, this has always happened. Capitalist systems always decay into fascism at some point and the people take time to organize and grasp the issue.

There are also proven methods to work against this. Voting is provides the needed slowdown and organizing is sewing the parachutes while approaching the inevitable cliff.

Remember that Alaska passed RCV inspite of massive complaint and protest from the GOP, Hell they even brought Sarah back into the deal. Sadly the GOP did get our single House member. So if it can be done here . . . .

Thus following the great American low-voter-turnout tradition, which hasn’t seen voter participation great than 63% in over 100 years; midterms average around 40%.

                                  Here is a simple difference:

                                  Democrats:
Advocate for the use of the scientific method, and the improvements in life from the Enlightenment, the New Deal, and the Civil Rights movement. Also, that people are basically good, and should choose what they want to believe or not believe, and have control over their own bodies.

                                  Republicans:
Believe that the Bible (KJV, of course) is the literal word of their vindictive god, who was created by dudes who got lost in a desert, and failed to ask their wives for directions. Then they created a demi-god myth based on a Jewish dude who was executed for pissing off the Romans. They want to turn the US into the theocratic hellscape envisioned by the Calvinist colonizers (see Project 2025). Then they want a war in the ME, for all the Jews to convert to their brand of "Christianity," all so -only they- get raptured up into their heaven, to live in eternity with their brutal god.

                                  That, friends, is the difference.

The Democrats recently removed opposition to the death penalty from their platform and violated national and international law by arming Israel.

and yet here you are, endlessly commenting on how being proud of alienation from making a difference in the world is totally awesome

i mean, great snark? good for you? applause?

                                    👏 👏 👏

perfect is not on the menu. expecting that before acting is moronic

imagine the difference in the USA if all the empty whiners about not voting on social media just fucking showed up and voted, especially in the primaries

                                      yes

and so you argue for voting in the primaries, and showing the fuck up, to stop this

                                      right?

you think i am defending centrist dems while i argue continually for showing the fuck up in the primaries to replace them?

are you arguing against what i am really saying?

or do you think you can play a shell game and lie to yourself about what i am saying and prove anything other than that you can't follow the simple fucking point

                                        the democrats fucking suck

the point is harm reduction, and moving in a good direction

if you iterate on that, you get real change. especially show up in the primaries and pick the most left candidate

if you drop out and whine, things continue drifting right

                                        the simple truth is:

the democrats sucking is your fault

if you do not vote, or articulate a lying lazy entitled rationale to not vote

                                        that really is the truth

Thus following the great American low-voter-turnout tradition, which hasn’t seen voter participation great than 63% in over 100 years; midterms average around 40%.

And be sure to A. Register as a Republican B. Vote a straight Democratic ticket (or for the independent where Right Wing poseurs are running as Democrats, like in Nebraska). Registering Republican will increase the chances that your votes will not be thrown out or that your registration will not simple vanish.
