@benroyce @jtb @aurochs @EUCommission There's a mile of a difference between Farage's bullshit (if not for anything else than that he applied the "unelected!!!1one" screech to every one of the EU officials) and saying that the unelected-because-they're-appointed-several-layers-down officials are not under our democratic control (changing my local rulers doesn't change the commissioners, and commissioners, as mentioned, do not even stand for their home country)

@phl @benroyce @jtb @EUCommission They are appointed and ratified by directly elected people, you control them as much as you control those who elected them.

thank you for showing up and clearing the air here

as an american i'm out of my depth, but i sense this perfectionist shouting for what it is, a right wing troll angle

and i allowed these two characters some leeway, but you have set me straight

        fuck this psyop

whether these two character are authentic or not, it does not matter, the effect is the same: toxic idealism "from the left" only works for the right. unknowingly, or as a conscious troll effort

@phl @benroyce @jtb @EUCommission I think (this is just my opinion) it is designed this way to force consensus between member states (such as "Hey, Mr. Orban, you accepted to appoin Von Der Leyen").

@benroyce @aurochs @jtb @EUCommission Yes, this is surely all a perfectionist hypercritical faragist anti-eu psyop, something that definitely exists and us two are either victims of it or, horror, actual perfectionist hypercritical faragist any-eu psyop agents even! Very realistic, and doesn't at all ignore every single god damned detail we more or less patiently discussed and argued with you.

What the everloving crap was the point yapping here for two hours if you didn't understand a word.

The reason they didn't post it is because the report you cite is not from the European Commission.

every time i see EUCommission post, i see sordid displays of toxic idealism in reply

i need to get out my popcorn every time

people really need to understand that shouting into the void for perfection is not morality, nor the basis of a valid post

replying to social media accounts of govt agencies with unhinged hypercriticism is meaningless dopamine hits for the ego only

if they want *better* (fuck perfect) then do *real work* for that

it's a symptom of people who have forgotten what they have and have forgotten how to maintain it

they just shout demands for perfection and can do no real work. they don't even know how

                        they are too entitled

The sad and scary part is that at the same time, they are willing to give up a lot of freedom, which they take for granted or even do not recognize as such, in order to expect their self-centered demands to be met.
Even if that means to support autocratic, violent systems.

And yes that "Karen mind" exists everywhere. 😒

As usual we do the same here in germany, just a bit delayed and a bit different. But same vibes... same direction...

@RegGuy @benroyce @richlv @paranormal_distribution@fosstodon.org @EUCommission yeah, I'm a big fan of the EU 🙂 I'm happy to be a citizen in an EU country and to be part of this great peace project 🙂

Is it perfect? No, I don't think so. But it's still a wonderful thing.

My main wish for the EU would be for it to abandon English as a language. Having English as the main language for intercommunication just tilts the playing field in the direction of the USA and UK.

@ehrt74 @RegGuy @benroyce @richlv @paranormal_distribution@fosstodon.org @EUCommission Unfortunately there's no other language as widely understood across the EU as English is.
(and English remains an EU language because it is an official language of both Ireland and Malta)

But in any case, every publication happens in the official EU languages, of which there are many (and some major regional ones are woefully missing, eg. Catalan) — and IIRC Parliament members typically speak in their own language.

please, keep it together. this is a prayer not a demand

because the usa is lost. we are in recovery mode now, who knows if we even can with all these plutocrats and bigots

it would be a huge blow if germany falls to this shit as well, at least to my psyche. because i like you believe in working for good by doing better as we can, rather than just entitled shouting for perfect. and europe is the anchor of that now in the world. for me at least

Despite the propaganda in the USA and here in germany (and elsewhere) there ARE sane movements of people everywhere.
In the long run we, the people, will go on as always (despite the empires) and hopefully find a way to interconnect globally more by networks like this here.
Giving up is no option. There is still the real problem for all of us growing. #climatechange

@benroyce @phl @EUCommission I used to be in the EU, and I am much nearer to it than you are. And I do actually care about democracy.

@jtb Nobody has to give a single shit about anything you have to say about the EU and every single response in your quest for attention. Lookit, a huge Brexit benefit!

Hi @jtb! The EU is a democracy and this means that you have the right to disagree with us. You can also help shape EU policies directly through tools like the European Citizens’ Initiative and European Citizens’ Panels.

Furthermore, you are directly represented in the European Parliament, which is elected by EU citizens, while EU countries are represented in the Council and the European Council.

No, no jtb CANNOT help shape any EU policies anymore because they do not live in the EU nor are they EU citizens. Which means you don't have to waste your time on his attentionwhoring. Please remember, you work for us, EU citizens.
                                        @jtb

@tamarasellman @benroyce @richlv @EUCommission No it didn't. That ignores all the good that happened in the 1960s and 1970s. What I'm talking about is the movement to undermine civil, voting, and women's rights. That started with Reagan.
