I Believe in Human Websites. I Still Care About Polish
Reading Joel’s post on unpolished human websites made me think about the tension between keeping a site personal and still wanting it to be clear, readable, and discoverable.

@cyberseckyle a good addendum! Polish is definitely welcome, just not a requirement, especially so when it's detrimental to getting the thoughts out there, when you care about the looks more than writing something at all. But well, it's all up to what you wanna focus on ^^

@joel @cyberseckyle i think the polish in this case is on the eye of the beholder. for example, a seemingly unpolished website might be more polished than it seems, or the opposite. but yes, the most important thing on a website is the personality, and it's something you build over time. -

@gettie @joel I totally agree. Personality is a huge factor! Polishing a website can show some of that personality though and that is what drives people to you. Making people feel warm and cozy so to say. Having a website that looks like a bunch of words on a word doc, well that might not be so much. LOL.

@cyberseckyle personally i like plain text sites, they have their own charm when they are well done. like adding a nice ascii art piece. but i get your point.
