@SRAZKVT in any case, for this initial approach I'm only considering structure not presentation.Ideally it should be possible to output three formats: screen, print and non-visual output. It is probably a good idea to start from the non-visual output and work backwards from there, so accessibility is guaranteed by design.
Link rot continues to be a real scourge on the 'net; in fact, it's worse now than it was when people starting warning about it 30 years ago. That's why I'm proud that many pages on my main site have not changed in 20 years.More seriously, donate to the Internet Archive, so they can preserve more of the 'net for posterity.#wink #LinkRot #web #ArchiveOrg #InternetArchive
@rasterweb Those companies imitated past media, which were also subsidized, first by massive investment capital (earned by monopolies in other industries), and later by advertising. The mass market hates to pay directly for communication (or other infrastructure). They prefer to pay through inflation in prices of material goods. An invisible, private tax. Almost a kind of laundering—the advertising tax is blended with the "real" costs. Just like the profit tax, come to think of it.
@rasterweb I will some time in the near future. These days, I need to get excited about something first (e.g., pizza-making, e-bikes, Uruguayan parrilla, $100 Italian panettone, Royal Lunch Milk Crackers...you know, all the usual suspects).
@mro A sad day indeed. I have had a lotta fun with #XSLT in the past, long ago when working for the larges Print company in the #EU (today due to internet et al, it went bankrupt, broken up). Most fun was a single (complex, yes) stylesheet that created the #HTML UI form for creation and editing of any #XML + #XMLSchema thrown at it, to allow subsequent update of itself.
I just realised every time I've had to type a lot of text onto a #web form, I copy the content before hitting the submit button. I've lost what I've typed way too often when the other end decides to throw some random error, forcing me to redo it.
