This morning while walking the dog a lady asked if he was a girl or boy. This isn't unusual, but she said "fille ou garçon?" not "femelle ou mâle" which is what everyone asks here. Her French was fluent but weird and she had an American accent with her fluent English.I wonder if this is a #Canada vs #France difference? My wife said Canadian French speakers use more English phrases/patterns than the French do.

@satchmo35 Ooof, lots of cheap nerd-stereotype jokes in that article.But also, my goodness, the number of nerds I've seen on here (including happily married men and women) complaining about only getting the short form census, or boasting about getting the long one! Everyone wants to be seen as more just an age, gender, and language profile, I guess. They also want to be seen for their rundown rental housing and bicycle commute, apparently.
