CIRCLE WITH A DOT

This tiny crocus is smaller than my thumb, but it's always our 1st flower of spring. It's a naturalized plant of unknown origin, growing in a spot between our driveway and the line of Cedar trees along the property line. I have seen it flowering as early as Feb. 16 & this (Mar. 10th) is as late as it's been. As can be seen in the photo, my "lawn" is more of a meadow, full of cinquefoil, violets, dandelions, plantain, buttercups, etc.#gardening #NewEngland #Spring #Zone6b #BloomScrolling

A day later, let me share my Yoshino #cherry tree, in perhaps 75% bloom. We're going to have a likely freeze tomorrow night, so I doubt it will get to full blossom.One of my favorite trees, glad at least to see this much "color." #NCwx #BloomScrolling

@helenclayton @IcooIey Right now the only fruiting trees we have are pawpaw, and they produce only about ten fruits, all ripe in the same week. Gooseberries aren't taking too well. Raspberries are sparse. The quince looks pretty, and from what I've read might do well where we are, so I might give it a try.We'd use them for salads, put in our oatmeal, and maybe make pies/compotes/preserves if they really take off.

The plums are blooming! It's usually about a 1/6 chance these blooms will survive later frosts to make good fruit. I'm from middle GA, where fresh peaches and plums are pretty common. They're trickier up here in the mountains.#Bloomscrolling#GrowYourOwn
