@KFvMalssen @sleepy62 I’m just imagining a situation when drought is so severe that growing is impossible, or at least no longer profitable and/or subsidized.In western Canada at least, gov’t funded crop insurance gives farmers money when drought causes failure. We’re subsidizing (in Canada) not solving a problem. So many current practices work against doing both ag & solar. Will the issue become so extreme that rural agriculture is just abandoned for power generation?

@alfredo One clarification, the electors lists do not contain email addresses. According to the Alberta Elections: “The list of electors contains electors’ first names, middle names, surnames, address, postal code, telephone number, unique identifier number, electoral division, and voting area.”As you said, more than enough to be forging petitions and should invalidate it.

@senanthic I'm kind of glad he's being a dick about it; less likely he'll get off with just a warning.But, yeah. Not the same. People have always (or for my lifetime, anyway) had the option of excluding their address or first name from a phone book listing, or having a completely unlisted number. That's pretty important for anyone dealing with a stalker or abusive ex, or for public figures or those whose jobs make them a target of harassment or threats. I've heard of people in the US who don't vote because they're afraid of their contact information reaching a stalker via voters' lists.And these days the majority of people don't have a listed number at all. Just because it used to be normal doesn't mean it should be accepted today. As technology has enabled mass fraud & spam, mass distribution of contact information has become a problem for everyone.

Last night I mentioned to my better half that there was a really good chance of separatist-leaning (if not fully blown separatists) right on our own street that we probably don't even know about.Just now, I am in the house and I hear better half talking to someone outside. At first I thought it was a separatist canvasser because I heard bits of the conversation "... I think we will be better off separated... because of.... muslim... "I looked out the window. It was a neighbourhood senior from a few doors down.
