@nixCraft but hosted on AWS, can't say it's as sovereign as they claim sadly

Here are other sovereign payment networks designed to bypass the traditional US big tech based credit/debit card (unsorted list):
            a) EU - Wero & EPI
            b) China - UnionPay, Alipay & WeChat Pay
            c) India - UPI/RuPay
            d) Brazil - Pix
            e) Turkey - TROY
            f) Pan African nations are also building or have independent payment networks

            More https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Credit_card_issuer_associations

We will see more digital sovereignty for security, privacy and to have independent control over their digital assets, infrastructure and data

@nixCraft Wero is currently hosted on AWS, but it's also requiring your bank app which is most likely exclusively distributed through Google and Apple market places, and I have not heard any plan about addressing that second part.

@nixCraft Wero runs on US infrastructure and as long as there is no unified Wero App that works across all banks I see zero chance of Wero becoming close to mainstream.
And even then, mainstream would mean replacing PayPal at most.
Replacing credit cards would also mean offering a system for in-person payments.

@nixCraft Isn’t this the thing that requires an app on Apple’s App Store or Google Play, and only useful for sending money to other people (which doesn’t usually use credit cards and is already doable with SEPA)?

Here are other sovereign payment networks designed to bypass the traditional US big tech based credit/debit card (unsorted list):
                                    a) EU - Wero & EPI
                                    b) China - UnionPay, Alipay & WeChat Pay
                                    c) India - UPI/RuPay
                                    d) Brazil - Pix
                                    e) Turkey - TROY
                                    f) Pan African nations are also building or have independent payment networks

We will see more digital sovereignty for security, privacy and to have independent control over their digital assets, infrastructure and data

@nixCraft Poland also has its own payment system called BLIK. It allows for online payments (which are more popular in Poland than online card payments), contactless terminal payments, and instant mobile transfers using just a phone number.

@nixCraft don’t forget in Indonesia we have GPN (Gerbang Pembayaran Nasional) and QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) that are also domestic payment network to completely independent from US-based payments.

                                        @mxk @nixCraft

Why do we need an unified wero app? I can send and receive money from my banking app to every other wero user.

For me it looks like wero is just a database for mapping phone numbers or email adresses to IBANs

@SnejPro @nixCraft if I can't answer how to get started with Wero to my friends, how should this gain traction?
If I want to convince someone to use it, the current answer is: maybe your bank has an app for it. Or maybe it's integrated in a big online banking app and you need that. Or something different all together.
And if you don't use an iPhone or Google Android you probably can't use Wero at all.
