    @Sobex @reflex @Foxboron @soapdog @smilingdemon @alatiera This list is kept up to date https://frame.work/tw/en/blog/framework-sponsorships

    They bought a booth and advertising at Rails World for 24k euro as mentioned, same as prior year. None of that money actually goes to DHH, he's not compensated as chair so far as I know.

    For comparison, 30k at Hackaday Supercon, 20k at Open Source Summit.

    They only give actual donations to e.g. nixOS and Debian, not conferences. Conferences are them getting ads.

        He's the only dev of any consequence, yes. I really wish the Omarchy project would die, it's pretty much trash. What I do want to study is why it's able to explode in popularity - what, cause it ships with a pretty hyprland theme? There's a manjaro version that ships with hyprland, never got the content creator run. I don't get it.

            Their promo post for the laptop was "We heard you".

            I wish I had seen this sooner, you can't make this up. The jokes write themselves.

                @alatiera I am very disappointed. I thought they learned their lesson after they stopped glazing the Omarchy "linux distro" on X and returned to mastodon. I honestly feel like something weird is going on at framework, like they usually listen to the community but with this one thing they don't seem to ever really listen. A lot of their employees aren't white, including the CEO yet they still haven't reconsidered. I'm honestly starting to wonder if money is involved in some way as this seems ridiculous. I don't get why otherwise they would think this pile of bash scripts made by a known racist is worth sacrificing their brand image for. I don't see Framework Computer listed as a sponsor on DHH's conference (rails world) yet but I wouldn't be surprised if they return, even after all the backlash.

                  @alatiera genuine question: what's so nazi about it? Why even call it that way?

                  I don't get it. I'm genuinely infinitely curious.

                    @smilingdemon @soapdog @alatiera Omarchy isn't even a distro, it's just some confs. There is zero reason to send them hardware.

                    @reflex @smilingdemon @soapdog @alatiera Why not send it to the Arch Linux developers instead? The developers that this Nazi benefits of.

                      @thaodan @smilingdemon @soapdog @alatiera Literally this. If they wanted to support projects, send it to Arch, not Omarchy.

                        @alatiera Seems like someone from DHH's company - may be DHH himself - has written drivers for those intel panther lake.

                          @alatiera hey @frameworkcomputer to make one misstep may be okay, but why do you continue doing that? It severely hurts your image, business and no it's not "just a big tend".
