It's not about leaning into Reform (although Labour has foolishly chosen to do that as its response). It is about working out if enough of the electoral franchise is against their agenda to form a government. And if not, what can be said to bring back voters who have been beguiled by the right (and continue to be, aided by the press and paid-for poisoning of social media).

Brexit was wrong and we’re living with the consequences. But if Burnham thinks keeping his mouth shut on it will stop Reform he’s deluded.

Exactly. Burnham is first and foremost a party man, which would be great if the Labour Party stood for traditional Labour policies, but totally useless while Labour continues to pander to Big Business and liberal economics.

But no one is buying your incrementalism #Starmer…and no one is feeling the benefits you claim:

As I’ve already said here, I’m no fan of Wes #Streeting, but staying out in the political wilderness as a country is harming us financially and in terms of safety. That has to be acknowledged.

I don’t think offering to rejoin the EU is the political gold it should be for Streeting.

But I do think he’s widening the Overton Window.

We will see other parties such as the #Greens, #LibDems and nationalist parties in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland benefit from his kite flying.

Hmmm…so #Burnham is just Starmerism delivered by the personality of the King of the North? Not buying it. He’s boxing himself into a corner ridiculously early.
