I see David Lammy has also been sent out to bat on #Starmer ‘s behalf:

Yes, because those young intelligent minds are our future. Their future has been blighted by those largely at the end of their lives who voted for #Brexit in 2016.
@JugglingWithEggs Yeah I heard him on R4 this morning. If they knock off this nonsense, I guess the problem is what do they say to the Reform voters? You were wrong about Brexit; you are wrong about immigration; we are not going to give you the nasty foolish things you want? I guess Burnham or whoever takes over will be left with the same dilemma.

@JugglingWithEggs the Czechs apparently rejected the Euro that they committed to and of course without sanction so there is precedent for joining and keeping your currency. EU will do nothing as usual

It seems strange that Barnsley is cited as the place that switched from Labour to Deform when Deform have only 42 of the 63 council seats.
Next door was much worse. In Wakefield Deform took 58 of 63. -

agree.@JugglingWithEggs @iaruffell The Greens may reach the same point eventually if they are successful enough. It's not about leaning into Reform (although Labour has foolishly chosen to do that as its response). It is about working out if enough of the electoral franchise is against their agenda to form a government. And if not, what can be said to bring back voters who have been beguiled by the right (and continue to be, aided by the press and paid-for poisoning of social media).

Brexit was wrong and we’re living with the consequences. But if Burnham thinks keeping his mouth shut on it will stop Reform he’s deluded.

Burnham's ascendancy to Mayor coincided with the Labour Party being carved in half by Corbyn's landslide election at the hands of the members and the traitorous rearguard response of the Blairite PLP.

I do loathe the phrase ‘to deliver’ or ‘delivery’ that is now used in politics…it suggests there is an actual precise product or target that will be met, but it never comes. It’s just vague words.

Exactly. Burnham is first and foremost a party man, which would be great if the Labour Party stood for traditional Labour policies, but totally useless while Labour continues to pander to Big Business and liberal economics.

But no one is buying your incrementalism #Starmer…and no one is feeling the benefits you claim:

As I’ve already said here, I’m no fan of Wes #Streeting, but staying out in the political wilderness as a country is harming us financially and in terms of safety. That has to be acknowledged.
I don’t think offering to rejoin the EU is the political gold it should be for Streeting.
But I do think he’s widening the Overton Window.
We will see other parties such as the #Greens, #LibDems and nationalist parties in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland benefit from his kite flying.

@JugglingWithEggs of those fiscal rules. The one every Chancellor rewrites and then get their knickers in a twist trying to apply to their cobbled together version.
