By 1864, when General Grant became overall Union commander, he put Scott's Anaconda plan in place. Grant sent Sherman south to Georgia, Gens. Hooker and Roscrans to TN, and Grant went with Gen. Meade into Virginia. -

Meade into Virginia.@obtener So the Anaconda Plan was basically the long game, and by 1864 it was clear that was the only way to win. Makes you wonder how much blood and treasure could have been saved if they’d listened to Scott from the start.
