    @kali @benroyce @proscience Besides complaints about the optics of blowing up a school, what are you seeing from Democratic leadership indicating that they are actually opposed to that plan?

    @fathermcgruder @kali @proscience

    why do you care about what democratic leadership thinks?

    we show up in the primaries and replace them

    this is what i mean by entitlement: you're so fixated and obsessed with teaching centrist dems a lesson everything else matters less to you

    your entire topic is a red herring

    who gives a fuck what dem leadership thinks. just vote for left candidates in the primaries

    by changing the topic you're only showing you've lost the plot

      So opposing genocide is demanding "purity" now? The regime committing the genocide is a fascist regime. It is founded on exclusivity and ethno-supremacism. How does one support that and still oppose fascism?

        how's that bullseye going under trump since he is now in power because so many didn't vote?

        what has been achieved by not voting on what you *say* you care about?

          @benroyce @fathermcgruder I'm old enough to remember when the progressive watchword was "Listen to Black women." But when Black women said "I'm voting for Harris and you should too" suddenly that wasn't important anymore.

          In 2024, 92% of Black women voted for Harris. It wasn't because they didn't care about Palestine. It's because Black voters know very well that every candidate is flawed and all votes are strategic. White people still refuse to take that lesson.

          LGBT people also preferred not being murdered.

            It's one reason I'm annoyed by phrase "you people voted for Trump" (when posted on mastodon).

            Groups that heavily voted for Harris were Black women, LGBT people, people with postgraduate degrees, the religiously unaffiliated, and I think newspaper readers were also heavily biased against Trump, but I can't find a confirming reference right now.

            Those are all categories heavily over represented here on mastodon compared to the general population.

            There's not a lot of straight white people with a high school diploma who call themselves evangelical around here.

            We should be arguing about how to communicate to the mainstream not complaining about each other.

              @SeanJH @fathermcgruder @liferstate @benroyce It's not "opposing genocide" to refuse to vote in an election where "cut off support for the country doing genocide or don't cut it off?" is not a question on the ballot.

              @dalias voting for any pro-genocide candidate sends the wrong feedback signal. We know now that the Democrats got the message: https://www.axios.com/2026/02/22/dnc-2024-autopsy-harris-gaza

                          I do think the lesson of Trump is that exciting your disaffected non-voting base can be more effective than chasing swing voters.

                          The mainstream democrats keep chasing swing voters, and they end up depressing their progressive core who then stays home. All I've got for this is vote in the primaries and support "progressive" organizing groups

                          I think to win elections we also need ways of countering the right wing bias in mainstream culture.

It's projected he could cause as many as 14 million unnecessary deaths, the deaths of people who would've lived if the food and medicine they depended on hadn't been ripped away (and in some cases literally set on fire!!). This is also a genocide, and it was 100% preventable. All you had to do was vote for the Black lady.

                                  @liferstate @benroyce @SeanJH Excuse me, but there was more than one black lady on my 2024 ballot so you are just showing your whole ass right now.

                                    well of course we need more left candidates

                                    but you can't depend upon centrist airheads going "how can we appeal to MAGA" to understand that

                                    so you need to just replace them by leftist voters showing up in the primaries

                                    mamdani is the blueprint

                                    Given how we're all terminally online, it might help if we figured out how to replicate 4chan's meme game, but for not being evil.

                                      @fathermcgruder @benroyce @SeanJH Sorry but I have better things to do than keep track of fringe vanity presidential campaigns.

                                        @benroyce @davoyager I’ve already seen two sets of people in Texas:

                                        1) They didn’t vote for Crockett. They failed us again. I won’t turn out in November.

                                        2) Talarico is a Fetterman. I won’t vote for him.

                                        Both failed strategies for improving our current situation, especially since TX MAGA cannot figure out which flaming shit bag they like, Cornyn (played racism for support) or Paxton (anti-trans and cuttting deal to drop out).

                                        @christopherbrown

                                        I'm in PA and want to put a massive pin in comparing anyone to Fetterman.

                                        1st, Fetterman did not run as a progressive (that was Malcom Kenyatta). He ran as a populist. The big funny looking guy with tattoos who was mayor of a small disadvantaged town in Western PA and understands working people.

                                        2nd, he suffered a very serious stroke and was later hospitalized with depression. He is not the same as he was b4 those medical events.

                                        3rd, he has ...

                                        @benroyce @davoyager
