    @benroyce @aadeacon @Eetschrijver

I think a #GeneralStrike will have a much bigger impact.

But to have a successful strike, you have to have #ClassSolidarity

Trump got in because of a divided class.

    @Sassinake
So there's no class solidarity. Well, bummer. Now here's the question to American voters: are you going to sit on your bums until class solidarity somehow materializes or are you meanwhile going to fucking vote to give class solidarity more chances to come about? Because these guys sure as hell are not going to help that happen.

Because the Democrats still have no more control or ability to interfere than they did before.

What will happen in an election with such control on the line?

Historically if they were to win it, one or more Democrats, however many as needed, will veer right, voting to block such control until it is blocked.

They will be rewarded well for this.

Maybe with an overwhelming Democratic majority? Hasn't before but ever hopeful.

well yeah, it's not going to be easy

but please don't posit statements like you are doing that in some minds might create a feeling of helplessness

i don't think that is your intention, you refer to hope by the end of your comment, but serve our current need to participate and vote by making sure to note "having said all of that, make sure you vote"

right but americans are largely dissipated and ineffectual

asking them to get off their fucking asses and just vote is hard enough

what you're asking for is an even much larger ask

so i don't stand against what you say, i agree with it

general strike and vote, we ask for both

but don't post in such a way that some fools might conclude you're asking them to do a general strike instead of vote. you're not doing that, but be explicit about that

I mean, you have to vote. You have to at least participate in this farce, before you flip the table.

But elections happen in Russia and North Korea too...

Most major #media and #socialMedia in the #USA is now right wing controlled

The #techbro angle is well understood, but traditional media, that used to be more balanced, being capitalist entities that were dying, plutocrats merely purchased them and put their goons on the managing editor desks

Watch this video of #Magyar going on #Hungary's version of #FoxNews (their state media) and announcing he is shutting them down

Now dream of that in the #US

To get there, you fucking #vote, idiots

i was once in a thread with someone from eastern europe who obviously did not have english as their first language and used the ableist r-word

i just told them this was an extremely vile word to use in english, and they edited their comment and thanked me

i didn't start piling on them with judgment and vitriol

we all should learn to try a little understanding first before bringing out the machine guns of judgment. of course, if they double down, bombs away

I posted only moments earlier how important it was to both vote in the primaries as well as the election saying that yes your lives really do hang on the results.

                That is truth.

But it is also truth that this is not going to be that easy or that straight forward and the only result with any chance of success - a Democratic supermajority everywhere - is going to be a reach, even if it works.

                                    sure.

but didn't Marx say that Socialism could happen only after capitalism ran its course and people realized they either united, or died?

                                      "you can't #vote out #fascism"

they just did in #hungary you pathetic right wing lying troll cosplaying left and working a helplessness psyop... or, worse, you genuinely are exactly such a spineless mindlessly cynical loser and just an immature entitled whiny lump, not a real leftist

" #trump will cheat so what's the point of voting in the #midterms"

say that again, you lying piece of shit

@benroyce @Eetschrijver I’ve been saying ”you can’t vote out fascism” for quite some time, and I’m more than happy to have been proven wrong at least this one time.

(Disclaimer: I don’t live in either Hungary or the US)

i can't argue with you. it's just that we're at cross purpose. you are talking forecasts and feasibility, i am trying to fire up the crowd

what i will do though is say that my purpose here is more constructive than yours at this particular moment. we're about to have primaries. we need to fire people up. you agree?

                                        so please:

just try not to be such a debbie downer

                                        please?

pretty pretty please with a cherry on top?

We can agree on the general point.

I think the point of disagreement is on foreknowledge.

One school of thought says it's best to know up front what you're up against. Good and bad.

Another says people can't handle that. Keep the message simple, details confuse.

Both may be right to different audiences under varying circumstance.

I prefer full message. Reason why is when folks deliver on simple thing but still in Shit Creek, not knowing details got em.

                                        But your thread so *waves.

                                          no dreary pessimism

                                          that's not realism

just as much as airhead optimism isn't

                                          you agree?
