I do realize that there's been an increase of 1st person books and that the main (usually woman) protagonist is usually written as blandly and self insert-y as possible, and that is why people are pushing back on the genre It is unfortunate, and it's unfortunately poorly written... Not the fault of the pov, it is the fault of a writer who doesn't understand How to use a *character*
