As such, it is easy to poke fun at JD Vance allegedly bringing a planeload of American food with him to Italy, a country known for its cuisine. But seriously, I assume it is standard practice for leaders or vice-leaders of the great powers (US, RU, CH) (and sure, let's add the very paranoid KP to that) to bring their own food with them on foreign trips, to minimise any risk?In the US case, I would not be surprised if Obama, Biden, and Harris did it, too. Would love to be proven wrong, of course. Also, I wonder how very formal and high-level dinners, like on State Visitis to the UK, are handled. Does the US president in that case eat what the Brits offer, or are they just pretending to, and in fact they have their own staff in the kitchen putting their guaranteed safe food on the same plates as those used for other guests?
