I apparently really like to use trucks (both pickup and the bigger types) as comparison points for satellite stuff. -

Eiffel’s ironwork.@Trilobyter at least those are reasonable criticism lol art is art and won't please many.
More impressed that something intended to be temporary was built so well it's lasted this long (even with expected maintenance)
-
Eiffel’s ironwork.@Trilobyter It's such a travesty that we've been so brainwashed into 'nothing that isnt profit!' that I look at the iron twirls and think 'no way that would be approved today'

One year in Australia and my chronic thyroid disease has resolved itself and my endocrinologist has successfully pulled me off medication.I have US Born but 1/2 Kiwi nieces who absolutely swear US food is basically poison and I can't really say they're wrong. They moved there in their teenage years and say they always feel less healthy when they have to return.

One year in Australia and my chronic thyroid disease has resolved itself and my endocrinologist has successfully pulled me off medication.@hacks4pancakes As a 3rd gen hypothy just waiting to join the first two with thyroid cancer...did your Aussie doc speculate on a reason? (if you wish to share of course)

I suspect the confident-but-wrong behavior of AI agents will lead to major problems as adoption becomes widespread.@carnage4life How might they answer
"How many other times have you given the wrong information about this?"
"How often do you give answers that were wrong?"
"How often do you incorporate the correct answer to not make the mistake again?"

Ooh, I want a radioactive abandoned Soviet helicopter, that would be cool! The one nuclear I would tolerate would be the molten salt reactors.
Not so much that it's safer, but that it can literally eat our current waste as fuel.

If my choice is breaking a hip or looking a bit silly… I’ll happily wear the tail.@jzb I wonder if it could be made to do double duty as a portable seat as well.

This would straight up freak me the absolute F out 😂 -
We just had the worse winter in my recent memory ... more snow and deeper cold.@paul yeah I noticed that as well lol. Had planned on installing thermal radiation barrier foil in the attic. No deal when it's 90+ outside.
We're (DC) forecast for highs back in the 50s starting Sunday for a few days at least.

I’ve been asked on TV hits and interviews lately to explain why decentralized social media is better, especially re: Mastodon.I've taken to calling FB / Twitter / etc 'Social Media' b/c they want you to consume the media they choose
Fedi is 'Social Networking' b/c the point is interacting with others.

Would you accept it if Gmail couldn't email Yahoo or Hotmail and you had to have separate accounts for every place you have friends?
That's what FB / Twitter / Reddit / YT are. Things that can't talk to each other. If you have a friend on YT, you can't follow them from your FB account.
Fedi allows *all* of them to talk to each other.
