@0x3f breadboards are great because you can quickly reconfigure them. I usually start by making breakout boards for my components for breadboards, and then go to a PCB when I know it works. I am however thinking about trying manhattan construction for prototyping, which has the best of both worlds and also a solid ground plane.You can go crazy with the laser PCBs, I’ve seen people do double sided layouts, laser drilling, edge cuts, solder mask, solder paste stencils. vias tho are kinda a pain tho, no matter how you do them. I usually just go for the simple 1 layer boards.
