update on my #masto journey.
After the first 3 days media storage explosion, been about a week and things have settled down.
At one point it was at 47gb for just me, follow like 900 folk. So I stripped back my followers a little, but I think the key was to kill the hashtags I was following (was following a bunch of heavy photo/video tags like #birds ). Also set the media cache retention to 2 days.
now seems to have settled at around 20gb

@Jgbird always stuns me how fast you need to go for buttflies, moths and hummingbirds.
grew up taking pics with cheap slrs in dull lit UK so even 1000 was rarely an option (i don’t think my Praktica had anything over 1000)
