She starts the story at 14 years old, and I haven't addressed her romantic life because she's under extremely stressful circumstances, and like ~80% of humanity, her libido basically shuts down for the duration. I want to get a little hint, at the end, that she's starting by them to get comfortable with the idea of dating, but that's all.

I'd been working on a short-story cycle that turned into a novella, and when I wrote the last words, satisfied that I'd nailed the basic shape of it, it realized it now existed in the world. I'd made a thing.
