That’s cool! Hope you see even more animals, though maybe not wolves or moose, those are kind of scary to meet out and about. (I would know…)

I like to think about how common it is to see wild animals in different parts of the world. Personally, I see these animals on about a weekly basis 🙂

I did too, I really hope this isn’t what the future holds for us.

Just last year I took a photograph of the night sky and managed to capture several satellites in just one picture. The results of what even more satellites would look like frightens me

  • BREAKING: Signal, the #1 privacy protecting messaging app many of us rely on, is saying they will pull out of 🇨🇦 ENTIRELY if they're scoped into #BillC22 without large changes.

Yeah, kinda getting annoyed at, like every single company it seems, releasing their own crypto currency. Like what??

And LoRa is a bit weird yeah, and the transceivers could in theory be yet another security risk on your phone.

But hopefully things works out, and have a great day!

Yeah, it’s fair if people pay for the services they use, especially since it incentivises not selling people’s data or metadata. But I must add to this by saying that I think people should have the right to privacy, even if they’re financially constrained.

And agreed, there is no project to date that’s more effective at providing a higher level of privacy than the tor network.

There are also options like Meshtastic that might prove itself to be a valuable tool in due time. Especially for close quarter communication and those edge case scenarios. Best let these projects be separate however, I think so at least.

If you’ve ever interacted with Tuta you’ll know my preference. They’re concise, unintrusive and informative. They also answer comments in their comment section and I’ve even seen them recommend their direct competitors as replacements to Google services.

It’s just nice to see them pop up in my feed.

But yeah, we really need to escape these centralised lock-in platforms for decentralised options. I’m personally rooting for Matrix as my main alternative. SimpleX is also a good option in my opinion, as of today. They seem to allow decentralisation too, unlike Signal.

  • one of the least pleasant things to accidentally stumble over: some kind of signal (ios) app bug that just affects all (text/keyboard) input interaction
    N neutronstar@infosec.exchange

    @froztbyte
I’ve also had my troubles with signal, on iOS too. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s on both parts it’s an issue.

Because on one hand I think signal is very underwhelming aesthetically and functionally, it’s the protocol that’s good but that’s it.

On the other hand iOS have had their own troubles so could just as easily be iOS26 shenanigans. 😕

I’ll boost you and hopefully someone will be of better assistance.

Well, most private messengers are, aren’t they? But unlike Signal which is, in my opinion, fundamentally flawed, SimpleX delivers on some features where Signal falls behind. I think it has shown to be promising, albeit a bit rough around the corners.

(I’m not trying to start an argument, merely speaking my mind. It’s difficult conveying tone and intent over text ain’t it?)

Still gonna be advocating for the use of Signal as a new current standard.

Until something better comes along. I’m personally rooting for SimpleX Chat and Matrix for this, due to the decentralised nature of both. I’m pretty sure SimpleX can be considered decentralised since you can change server in the settings.

There won’t be anywhere left to go.

This, the social media bans that is, carry the same sickening energy as when restaurants employ ”teenage repulsers” or whatever you can call them. Those devices that play high frequency sounds that only children and teenagers can hear to ward them off public spaces.

Then youngsters started going online to express themselves and to build their own opinions. And now, nope, let’s set up age restrictions to *protect* the children. This is, in my opinion, like putting a bird in a cage to *protect* it, while it just wanted to fly free.

I might be preaching to the choir but I’m expressing my right to free speech. It seems like it’s going to be increasingly important for us to do that, if I’ve read the signs right. I hope that I have not.
