@bobbricoleur@infosec.exchange @relay@relay.infosec.exchange I ran a #WildDuck server for a while. I had to use an smtp relay to send because non-ISP source servers tend to score higher on spam filters even with DKIM, SPF and DMARC in place, so it became a game of diminishing returns.

When I got tired of that I just went to Proton like a normie.

@downey@floss.social I always think about the individual coders that write stuff like this. It’s easy to blame a faceless company but individual people (for now) code this stuff knowing full well what they’re writing.

I like Namecheap but their tactic of selling cheap domains that are expensive as hell to renew is pissing me off. It is almost always cheaper to transfer a #domainname than it is to renew it. And unless you’ve got some other sticky services with your registrar, it’s entirely seamless to just keep transferring it around every year.

I saved over $100 so far this year by doing that. Don’t buy extra services from your registrar.
