Instructure, the company that operates Canvas, has confirmed that it addressed the incident directly.@cR0w “when we said criminal earlier, that was a regrettable mistake. What we meant was partner. A trustworty professional partner who knows where my kids go to school and where the nursing home my mom lives is located”

When such a large portion of the US education system is at a standstill due to some nerds breaching a single publicly-traded corporation, the problem isn't a technical one.@cR0w and the kids still cant read

This is a fun write-up.@cR0w i liked the ghidra asides.
A while back, cradlepoint shipped some vulnerable sierra crap that allowed an attacker to do unauthed proxy, running up huge data bills on remote well installations. Fun times- thanks for the traumatic stress flashback

spicy opinion:Early in the flood, i was asked to give a presentation on AI at an all-hands. So i put 9 or 10 slides together, all AI generated, chosen to demonstrate the nightmare of this unfolding timeline. I presented it straight, addressing each horror with corporate flavored enthusiasm for the brave new world.
I never had an audience so engaged. Rapturous looks on faces. Several came up after to say it was the best presentation they had seen. I wanted to cry. Complete miss.

i bet you can already picture my 'why knowing basic networking and self hosting is important' tirade -
We went from precise web search with boolean operators to "natural language models" of AI search.@tinker i get unreasonably upset when i try to use a search the way it was intended and get in response: “fuck you here is what we decided you should have searched for and also here are some slops”
