The more I play around with #Linux, the more I occasionally take deep dives in random Linux related subject matter. After seeing many angry posts involving Systemd, I decided I’d educate myself a bit.
Oh boy, and I thought the Mac/Windows flame wars of the 90s were bad. People who hate #systemd, HATE it. I’m not saying they’re wrong, but have to wade through a lot of angry diatribes to get to the more fact based info.
Anyway, I think I’m leaning more systemd ain’t good.
@mikeTesteLinuxQlub @itsfoss in the grand scheme of things it’s not important. But since I already have one laptop running Linux, I don’t want to put it on my other one until I can take full advantage of every feature. For me the fingerprint reader is a nice convenience.
I’ve been a Mac user since about 1984. Shifting fully off it is a long, slow process for me.
@itsfoss someday if they manage to get the fingerprint reader to work, I meant finally make the switch to Linux on my MacBook Air M1.
Currently my PC laptop is running Linux (MX Linux). It’d be nice to have both my laptops much more under my control.
@stux nah, mostly we used to have good PR on the world stage - but ask minorities here in the US and they’ll tell you it’s always leaned towards fascism. Our current administration just not longer feels the need to hide it anymore and have stomped down on the gas pedal as we barrel of the cliff.
@tbortels @mapache I agree with you 100%. My feed is interesting, rarely leaves me with negative feelings (liberal use of temporary muting, or when necessary, blocking is a wonderful thing), and some days is so active I don’t even have the time to read everything on it! It took time and effort to get to this point, but it’s been totally worth it. Like most things, you get more out of it when you invest some time in to it.
