Their canQuote is being pulled into GoToSocial to go along with their canReply, canLike, canAnnounce (boost):https://docs.gotosocial.org/en/v0.20.3/federation/interaction_policy/My default interaction policy for replies is exactly what you say:Anyone can like, anyone can boost, however to reply either I follow you, or you follow me, in which case replies are automatic, or else I manually approve the reply.You can configure the reply policy as a default for all posts, and then you can even (if the software supports it) do interaction policies for specific posts. Like if you want to disallow all replies, for instance.

@Em0nM4stodon Done, thanks! Added a point that truly bad actors can just encrypt locally with PGP. Encryption backdoors only harm the privacy of ordinary people relying on the off-the-shelf encryption tools.

@feld I am a privacy professional, and your description here is inaccurate. Besides, there are many situations where people are not being paid to be in a meeting, and even when they are, this doesn't magically remove all privacy rights they might have in their jurisdictions. Employees have rights too.

@Em0nM4stodon If you’ve ever interacted with Tuta you’ll know my preference. They’re concise, unintrusive and informative. They also answer comments in their comment section and I’ve even seen them recommend their direct competitors as replacements to Google services. It’s just nice to see them pop up in my feed.

@kaifi Indeed, I have thought about all of that, but doing this doesn't guarantee a living wage. I think very few people make enough money to live from blog subscriptions and donations alone.
