History will remember what they achieved here.@itsfoss MidnightBSD was one of the first to introduce age delcaration code. And Ageless is just Debian with the name changed. Might be a bit out of line to say they are doing anything against age verification.
Meanwhile System76 has actively pushed back against age verification laws and may have an exemption lined up in Colorado and is nowhere in this image.

Whenever I hear someone say "Whenever I hear someone say "____ is the future!" I get the impression they don't realize what they are saying is "It's not useful now".

It's clear that AI assisted coding is dividing developers (welcome to the culture wars!).@plexus Let's not forget that code output by LLMs are probably not subject to copyright (and include training on copyrighted works), making them a legal landmine for any project or product that includes output from LLMs.

Microsoft spent 4 years stuffing Windows 11 with unwanted ads, forced Copilot integrations, stealing data to train its shity AI and other bloatware, now they want applause for promising to remove it.@kobold @nixCraft We have a list of open source operating systems without systemd. It's one of our most requested search criteria: https://distrowatch.com/search.php?ostype=All&category=All&origin=All&basedon=All¬basedon=None&desktop=All&architecture=All&package=All&rolling=All&isosize=All&netinstall=All&language=All&defaultinit=Not+systemd&status=Active#simple

systemd lost the plot a long time ago.@bazkie @nazokiyoubinbou @nixCraft Devuan is Debian with an alternative init.
Antix provides multiple init implementations.
FreeBSD is not hard if you are used to Debian.

Stores the user's birth date for age verification, as required by recent laws in California (AB-1043), Colorado (SB26-051), Brazil (Lei 15.211/2025), etc. userdb: add birthDate field to JSON user records https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/40954@nixCraft "Why systemd is dealing with age verification stuff?"
systemd wants this deal with everything. No surprise they want to be part of the "solution" to this user privacy nightmare.

The resistance against age verification is growing.@itsfoss This isn't a distro so much as just a script that changes the ID of the distro. Their GitHub link gives a 404 error.
Literally nothing to see here.

To occupy my nephew for a few hours I asked him to solve a Rubik's cube that had been on the mantelpiece unsolved since 1992, my own childhood. -
ISO images for Tribblix m39 available for download:@ptribble Is there any place on-line where we can find a list of packages that are available on the ISO? For example, OpenIndiana usually has a ".list" file that has the output from "pkg list".

checking the BBC homepage has been a curse since COVID days.@nixCraft I think the effect you are describing has more to do with the state of the BBC than the state of the world. They make more money making people scared and depressed than happy.
