    @ariarhythmic @Natasha_Jay the last person who really pushed hard on it was fired. Others were let go or left on their own. Personally, I was asked to stop posting so many questions and issues in our managers channel (not all DEI related). In general we've just gotten very corporate-y and it's all about meeting targets and making deals and money and anything beyond that falls on deaf ears.

        @ariarhythmic @Natasha_Jay Overall, I'm left wondering if the company really was better back then and we changed, or was it just in the interests of the company to act that way and now it is not.

            @Natasha_Jay As shitty and fake as brands are, I suppose them supporting pride as potentially worth the profitability risk is a good sign for society overall? Kinda? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

            Of course, that doesn't change the fact they're definitely fair weather friends, and would easily drop support if the meter flipped.

            @PersistentDreamer @Natasha_Jay yeah that is the thing it is an extremely bad sign for us when they run the numbers and decide we aren't worth it

              @bit101

              Imo it can be a bit of both.
              It couldn't happen if leadership was firm in valuing DEI, but an environment like the one we're living in now takes people who are, uh, not doing their own thinking and makes them worse.

              I genuinely think it was better when companies were doing the motions of DEI, even if leadership was just doing it because everyone was.

                @Natasha_Jay I can remember only one campaign that still was a moneygrab (that's ok IMO, a company wants to turn a profit), but actually some slight amount of thinking went into it.
                Juvgr fxvggyrf jvgu "qhevat cevqr, bayl bar envaobj znggref" is cute and gets me every time. I buy 'em once they show up in the post-season reduced-to-clear section.

                          @Natasha_Jay I don't think corporations can get away with the hypocrisy of throwing up a pride flag and simultaneously donating to anti-LGBTQ+ politicians anymore

                          at least I hope not

                          I guess it depends how many people with huge follower counts name and shame them

                            @Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt Digging up an old statement I made on Reddit:

                            I'd rather be pandered to one month a year than ignored year round because the people who want me dead are the ones with all the power.

                                @wheresalice @Natasha_Jay I honestly say that I'm not a supporter of dedicating anything to specific time period. While spreading awareness is definitely very important, it shouldn't be tied to a specific time period and that time period be exclusive to that one cause. We don't have enough months, weeks and days for every single manner that matters.

                                          @bit101 @ariarhythmic @Natasha_Jay Talking to bosses is usually useless. Talking to our colleagues and then making demands/suggestions as a collective is much better
