Alistair has never been proud of who he is, or what sort of creature he is. I will add, however, that Fenella *is* proud of him, as is Hati as well. While he views himself as a villain, they never have. He’s a hero (but an imperfect one) to them in many ways.

I’ve rambled enough about my writing style and how the writing process goes for me. I’ll talk about what I write for a change. I’m a romance author. I love Romantic Fantasy AKA Romantasy, Dark Romance, Gothic and/or Paranormal Romance, etc. I adore writing all of it, and I’ve dabbled in a lot of genres for my tales. I enjoy delving into original universes for: Sword and Sorcery AKA Heroic Fantasy, Fantasy, SFF, Historical, Horror, Science Fiction, Cyberpunk, HopePunk, Mysteries, and Cozy Fantasy, just to list off a handful of genres. I’ve written (and read, of course) a little bit of everything over the years. I’m a weaver of weird and wonderful tales.

Let’s talk about writing romance for a bit. For me, romance drives the plot in tandem with what’s happening within the universe, and when romantic tension—the “push and pull” of attraction and conflict—directly causes, complicates, or resolves the main storyline’s external events, that’s definitely my bread and butter. Rather than a side story or a subplot, the relationships act as the catalyst for character decisions, raising stakes, and forcing actions that move the narrative forward.

#PennedPossibilities 929 — What is your MC’s country or place of origin, and where do they currently live?

For reasons that will become obvious later, I’ll answer this one about Fenella. She’s from Moray, Scotland. It’s where she was born, lived, died, and became bloodbound AKA became a vampire. She traveled the world for about seven years, after she and Alistair decided to end their love affair, and now she’s back again. She missed it dearly as well. And him, of course.

• Hati’s incredibly sassy. I mean, beyond sassy. Sometimes she’s *too* sassy. (Kinda like me, oops.)
• She loves the comfort of reading by the fire while Alistair’s at his desk, tapping away on his typewriter and working on a new chapter. That’s a cozy night in for her.
• She’s always open to new experiences, despite how utterly terrified of mortals she is. I love her for that.

• Fenella only realized how horrible the mistake of leaving Scotland and leaving Alistair was after she left and was a continent away. She still loves him dearly.
• She’s actually a better fighter than Alistair.
• She prefers drinking from women rather than men. Men are idiots, and their blood tastes stale to her these days. Being a private investigator and seeing the things she did while working cases was most likely the catalyst.
