Been on a long nonfiction run. I'm tired of learning about stuff. Just need some fiction. Something creative, something neat, maybe adventure, maybe dystopia, maybe gangster with a heart of gold, maybe breaking the psyche, world traveller, bicycle mechanic, just about anything.
Anyone reading anything great these days?
@askDNA “The Prince of Tides” by Conner

@askDNA Hmm, well, hard to know what you might enjoy without some idea of what genres or themes you like, but in general I would happily recommend either of my two all-time favorite series, both fantasy:
1. Dragon Blood by Lindsay Buroker, starting with "Balanced on the Blade's Edge" (which you can probably find free in eBook format somewhere)
2. the Dark Lord Davi duology by Django Wexler, starting with "How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying"There's also Legends and Lattes and its sequels, and Monk and Robot, and Murderbot (that one being more sci-fi), all of which are quite popular and I think would be appreciated by someone wanting a break from nonfiction. And none of these are really "heavy" reading either, which makes them better candidates for a first foray into fiction than something like Lord of the Rings or Mistborn (both also very good but much more complex).

@askDNA P.S. Project Hail Mary is also popular right now because of the movie, and it *is* a really good book, but there's some talk going around about some quasi-political statements the author made in a recent interview that, in the most charitable interpretation, showed rather poor judgment. So that one comes with a bit of an asterisk.

@askDNA I recommend: Children of Time
Science fiction novel by Adrian Tchaikovsky; the less you know about it the more it will surprise you.And if you want a saga, The Expanse is absolutely awesome

@askDNA If you're looking for a bicycle mechanic with a breaking psyche, try The Rider by Tim Krabbé-it’s a taut, obsessive novella that feels like a fever dream on two wheels.

@askDNA So glad the description hit the mark-hope the ride lives up to it. If it clicks, his novel The Vanishing has a similar kind of quiet dread.
