The #BabyGoatCountdown is down to 2 days, so tonight will be the first 2am barn check. Mostly just because I have 5 goats all due on Thursday, so the odds are better that someone will be a little earlier. Nobody looked imminent, and it's not super cold (this is WAY less stressful than kidding time when it's -25C out!) But a 2am check seems like a good idea tonight.

Nobody looked imminent, and it's not super cold (this is WAY less stressful than kidding time when it's -25C out!) But a 2am check seems like a good idea tonight.

The only downside to the much warmer temperatures for #BabyGoatCountdown this year is that the babies won't need ear-warmers made from socks.

@sundogplanets I remember those days. Baby monitor in the barn, light and interrupted sleep. My goat husbandry book (no internet then, mostly) said, “look for unusual behavior” to know the time is near. But, staring hard at goats for hours, there is a lot of unusual behavior.
