    Have you changed the way you speak in meetings since the bots arrived?

    @yaelwrites I refuse to use or share recordings. All my meeting notes are created by me and I include the message "created by a human, not an AI" in the distribution emails afterwards.

    I also ignore generated notes, especially generated tasks. I report to a human not a LLM.

      @yaelwrites A very good article, thank you! Here in the EU it's illegal to make recordings without asking for consent before (at least in my work as a journalist).

      I don't experience group meetings but had recently some cases of abuse (I call it so).
      One abusing my podcast for fake "own" content. One copying a series of my non-public, quite personal posts with my handle into a LLM. One saying, he would change all videos he likes, into a podcast by LLMs.

      Personally, I'm so tired of it. It's so

        @yaelwrites disgusting that these people have no respect, no ideas of laws that could be different to the corporation's marketing.
        I try to imagine a strategy to change my public behaviour. Yes, more artificial performance, less good communication.
        But the problem goes deaper. The one who filled my posts into the LLM asked for psychological advice. That's more than a copy. It's giving my words wrong hallucinated context. It's abuse but most people seem to find it normal.
        LLMs destroyed my joy to

          @yaelwrites work. I'm near to the point to give up certain forms of my work for the public. And I hate that feeling to think of such consequences.

            I'm worried about my next physical, since I've heard that doctors using AI transcription and AI summaries of patient charts has become widespread. If my doctor does that I'll probably clam up completely.

              @leadore oof. Though to be fair they have messed up my details without using AI more times than I can count

                    @yaelwrites

                    At some point when running theater labs at a circus center, I fought for and won permission to cover the cameras in the room we were teaching in.

                    It was a big moment, because for some of the participants it was a moment where they realized it was the first time in memory they were in 'public' without being recorded.

                    This was 2019, and
                    I often think about how much that change affected the conversation in the room despite it only being a visual record.

                      @yaelwrites "I don't love the fact that I was on a call that was being transcribed without my knowledge or consent, but am more annoyed that it seems to be the norm now."

                      I couldn't agree more. This has happened to me once, and I keep a very bitter memory of it. Consent, true consent, is essential for data collection, and even mandatory by law in many jurisdictions (moreover for recordings).

                      Thank you for talking about this topic and sharing your experience.

                      AI notetakers should never be normalized. They breach privacy, consent, and trust.

                      @Em0nM4stodon @yaelwrites

                      It's a nightmare. I've always been very reticent to speak up in remote meetings because of all those unresolved data privacy problems and now avoid doing so at all when I know there's an arrogant machine waiting to analyse my voice and misrepresent my words in a slop-transcript ...

                        @yaelwrites Context is everything. If you are being recorded & transcribed to be made public, I completely understand. However, every business meeting I've been in for the past several years has been recorded. Transcription tools predate the LLM hyperbole. There are security & compliance concerns about 3rd party tools, but most corps control that. It's like protesting that your biz email goes through DLP scans - there isn't a presumption of privacy, quite the opposite - there is discoverability
