I don't experience group meetings but had recently some cases of abuse (I call it so).

Yes, I engage much less in recorded and transcribed meetings, and with projects that require them.

Based on some recent experiences, including people joining long meetings using free, time limited note takers, I am wondering if people are incentivized in some way to do this? Either because it markets the bot product or because it captures training data, or both. The bots interrupted the meeting repeatedly with upselling messages. They did not capture a useful subset of the meeting content.

Anyone seen incentives like this?

I couldn't agree more. This has happened to me once, and I keep a very bitter memory of it. Consent, true consent, is essential for data collection, and even mandatory by law in many jurisdictions (moreover for recordings).

AI notetakers should never be normalized. They breach privacy, consent, and trust.

Proliferarion of these notetakers has absolutely made me more guarded and careful in meetings, which feels frustrating. Maybe it’s futile, but I don’t feel I can be as open or speak as frankly in calls these days. I don’t want my hot takes or ideas meant for one or two close colleagues documented somewhere forever.
