    @RegGuy @benroyce @richlv @paranormal_distribution@fosstodon.org @EUCommission yeah, I'm a big fan of the EU ๐Ÿ™‚ I'm happy to be a citizen in an EU country and to be part of this great peace project ๐Ÿ™‚

    Is it perfect? No, I don't think so. But it's still a wonderful thing.

    My main wish for the EU would be for it to abandon English as a language. Having English as the main language for intercommunication just tilts the playing field in the direction of the USA and UK.

      The sad and scary part is that at the same time, they are willing to give up a lot of freedom, which they take for granted or even do not recognize as such, in order to expect their self-centered demands to be met.
      Even if that means to support autocratic, violent systems.

      And yes that "Karen mind" exists everywhere. ๐Ÿ˜’

      As usual we do the same here in germany, just a bit delayed and a bit different. But same vibes... same direction...

      please, keep it together. this is a prayer not a demand

      because the usa is lost. we are in recovery mode now, who knows if we even can with all these plutocrats and bigots

      it would be a huge blow if germany falls to this shit as well, at least to my psyche. because i like you believe in working for good by doing better as we can, rather than just entitled shouting for perfect. and europe is the anchor of that now in the world. for me at least

        @ehrt74 @RegGuy @benroyce @richlv @paranormal_distribution@fosstodon.org @EUCommission Unfortunately there's no other language as widely understood across the EU as English is.
        (and English remains an EU language because it is an official language of both Ireland and Malta)

        But in any case, every publication happens in the official EU languages, of which there are many (and some major regional ones are woefully missing, eg. Catalan) โ€” and IIRC Parliament members typically speak in their own language.

        @phl @ehrt74 @RegGuy @benroyce @richlv @EUCommission the other sensible reason is that you want non-EU members to read your rules.

          We are trying.โœŠ๐Ÿผ
          Despite the propaganda in the USA and here in germany (and elsewhere) there ARE sane movements of people everywhere.
          In the long run we, the people, will go on as always (despite the empires) and hopefully find a way to interconnect globally more by networks like this here.
          Giving up is no option. There is still the real problem for all of us growing. #climatechange

              @benroyce @phl @EUCommission I used to be in the EU, and I am much nearer to it than you are. And I do actually care about democracy.

              @jtb Nobody has to give a single shit about anything you have to say about the EU and every single response in your quest for attention. Lookit, a huge Brexit benefit!

                Hi @jtb! The EU is a democracy and this means that you have the right to disagree with us. You can also help shape EU policies directly through tools like the European Citizensโ€™ Initiative and European Citizensโ€™ Panels.

                Furthermore, you are directly represented in the European Parliament, which is elected by EU citizens, while EU countries are represented in the Council and the European Council.

                @EUCommission
                No, no jtb CANNOT help shape any EU policies anymore because they do not live in the EU nor are they EU citizens. Which means you don't have to waste your time on his attentionwhoring. Please remember, you work for us, EU citizens.
                @jtb

                  @RegGuy @benroyce @richlv @paranormal_distribution@fosstodon.org @EUCommission actually started in the 1950s with John Birch Society, Barry Goldwater, and McCarthyism.

                  @tamarasellman @benroyce @richlv @EUCommission No it didn't. That ignores all the good that happened in the 1960s and 1970s. What I'm talking about is the movement to undermine civil, voting, and women's rights. That started with Reagan.
