@fiore @jackemled also play some tunes. the fact i tend to not have audio while doing this also factors into my hesitation
also ugh why cant wine just support sndio already its available on linux its good and i wanna use it why do i have to deal with pipewire dang it -
@fiore @jackemled fedora is such a mess im just scared itll go wrong again so i dont wanna do it alone so i can fall back on emotional support but i cant really stream it on account of *gestures vaguely* and i dont have anyone irl that like... gets it at all
@coolbean @fiore I like Fedora alot, but it's suffering from techbros infecting it with AI generated shit & also systemd is rotting.
I didn't convert a Fedora install to Chimera. I made a list of directories & files I needed to transplant to have the same setup after manually installing the same software, then made a .tar file using the list as input. After that I made a complete backup of my SSD with CloneZilla to be safe, then I wiped the partition table & installed Chimera. When I was done installing Chimera I read my list of software that I need to have my desktop look the same & installed everything that was available (no KDE-Rounded-Corners available for Chimera
), then logged in as root & extracted the .tar file to /, then I rebooted & my desktop was there. I just had to manually edit a few settings that had been in files I missed. -

@fiore @coolbean Maybe when I stop having an unstable living situation & being broke I will learn how

I tried building it from source but it didn't work. I don't know the names of packages it depends on for Chimera & I tried installing literally everything mentioned for all the other operating systems it does actually have guides for just incase & that didn't work.
-
@tisanae @fiore @jackemled fucking tedious to configure and just... overly complex with little reward as things like qpwgraph pipelines dont even tend to persist making it all the more annoying to let me split minecraft audio into its own device that i can still hear but can lower the volume for in obs

@tisanae @fiore @jackemled nope the packages just pull in pulseaudio which apparently has an openbsd/sndio port and yea it runs automatically via dbus when needed

@fiore @coolbean
I might want to see how you do it if you try so I can learn
https://github.com/matinlotfali/KDE-Rounded-CornersIt has a KDE store page but no actual package on it for some reason. I'm pretty sure desktop effects get a special universal package for Plasma instead of the operating system.
