@fiore i think we need an effective description of "corporate". is this a legal definition? does this disadvantage us compared to mysteriously funded nonprofit orgs?

@fiore the problem with the " volunteers in their spare time" narrative kinda is that either the project gets abandoned because the developers are juggling a 60h/wk job, family, friends, and three to five free software project, or that the project gets abandoned because the developer who wanted to focus on the project full-time went homeless because they couldnt get the funding .

its the same problem as with any art, and even research . it feels

@hipsterelectron@circumstances.run @fiore@brain.worm.pink the difference between a corporation that does an atrocity and the corporation that does not do an atrocity is not some moral betterness by the board of directors. Sure some small time businesses may genuinely be driven by a guy with a desire to do good. But that chafes and gnashes against the demanded logic of capitalism to seek profit above all else or be annahilated. Like fiore said those which do genocide are those which have a profit incentive to do so. And those who do not follow profit incentive like its their religion will eventually be fed on by vultures picking on their stagnating corpse.

@fiore @LGUG2Z @nagirin they are one way to define guarantees. how else can we do so? i also advocate for no-support resolutions which would be intransitive and alongside the code of conduct

@hipsterelectron@circumstances.run @nagirin@sk.myxoz.net @LGUG2Z@hachyderm.io the fsf has failed to provide what we are seeking , and the fsf has produced some pretty darn good licenses . the reason this all went to shit is that licensing is not the way to move forward , it is not a weapon
