Hi #fediverse.

Ok. Just tried the two step method. It really is not as easy as the original video makes it out to be.
@Pepijn Can be so difficult to tell them apart.

@Pepijn I bet it fled straight into the nearest high security data center
-
@SnyperWolf It's 2026, we really should try to not judge ducks by their cover.
@Pepijn Fair enough

-
@Pepijn That duck looks like a rabbit
@SnyperWolf
It's a hare. -
Hi #fediverse. We need to talk about something.
While browsing the Fediverse today it appears most people here have never tried to pick up a duck or swan. Like, not even once during their childhood.
Some people say they've not even touched a living chicken!
My hypothesis is that people here get upset about whatever hypothesis I present so I'll shutup on this.
๐ฆข Have you try pick up a duck or swan?
Please boost for scientific accuracy (or don't, it's your choice, that #science for you!)
@muskrat_john has some advice on why you shouldn't....

@Pepijn Pick up - no. Did pet a Canada goose while feeding them a couple summers back.

Muscovy duck or Canadian goose in disguise. -

@Pepijn yeah, ducks have always bailed out if I tried to approach too

@Pepijn : No for duck, but yes for goose.
I was attacked by swans as a toddler.

I believe you may be what people call "an odd duck", Pepijn.
That is not a criticism. I like ducks (have picked many up, petted them, fed them, raised them from egg, studied them in the wild, etc.) I like most "odd" people, much more in fact than I like hidebound, sullen, militantly average people.
I'm an odd duck, myself.
Thanks for your entertaining posts.

I cry โfowlโ! I have hugged and carried a chicken.

Do baby ducks, count? Then yes. Ducks! -

@Pepijn I've voted no, because I've only picked up a duckling, never a full grown duck.
Having met some adult ducks, I'm not sure it's as easy as the instructional video suggests.

@Pepijn I like ducks

@Pepijn
For scientific reasons, now, urgently, I'm in need of a video on how to pick up the swan, or, in the absence of a swan, a goose.@kobold the way I used to pick up geese was to grab them by the neck very close to their head, and just a second later I would put the other arm around their body so their wings are held close and cannot flap.
I should say that I've never picked up a goose who did not know me, and I have *never* tried this on a swan. Swans are *much* more powerful than geese and a lot meaner
Good luck! Send photos of bruises from wing blows!
