    With the European Citizen initiative, citizens can call on the EU to propose new laws. Once it has been registered and opens for voting, how many signatures are needed?

          @Sylocule @grob

          I still remember the rush of campaigning for the one to ban conversion therapy, although I don't think I was on fedi yet then. Anyway, we just got a pretty good response to that one!

            @hpod16 Glad it’s multiple choice, or I would have only been able to come up with a general gist

              @hpod16 @grob When I worked at DIGIT, some of the ECIs caused a few performance issues because of the popularity

                I think, I heard it belonging the topic of elimination of daylight-saving time.
                I will see it, when the voting ends.

                  The problem with this topic, if I’m not wrong, was that it stalled in the council, council , meaning that some member states blocked it.
                  I don’t know if a citizen initiative would help in this case, because the commission did already put forward a proposal in 2018, but it might rekindle that debate? But the main goal would be to get enough member states on board.

                    @hpod16

                    I don't know the exact state of this topic, but the problem would be, that probably affected european countries should stay on same timezone.
                    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_European_Time

                    But that would be a bad idea, related to real sunrise and sunset in different countries.
                    I think, this would be a "high emotional" topic for several groups and so politicians don't want to get hands on it and just let the current state as it is.

                    Against advises from science about impacts of daylight-saving time.
