    Had a pre-coffee idea this morning: auto-ejecting USB ports.

    Device all charged up? Port automatically ejects the cable.

    Malware on thumb drive? Host spits it out.

    Files all copied successfully? Ptoooie!

    @jgilbert Depends on the speed of ejection and if there's a tray to pop it onto.

          @jgilbert Have you encountered some of those USB-A (and to a lesser degree USB-C) sockets on some cheaper computers? They are so badly made that it takes pliers to grab the USB plug (male) device to get enough grip to pull it out.

            @jgilbert
            Suggested sound effect for that USB ejection:

            " 'Scuse me while I whip this out" (from #MelBrooks #BlazingSaddles ).

                @jgilbert with enough ejection force you could use it as a short range communication protocol

                  @jgilbert I used to have a camera, that had a spring loaded microSD port, that could easily shoot a card 15meters

                            @malwareminigun friend, you gotta look past the technological impacts of what's in your pockets, on your desks, where ever, and rediscover that whimsy we lost sometime ago when computers stopped being fun and just became gray, faceless, containers for broken software. A device that we can ascribe a human activity like "ugh this tastes terrible!" is so much more fun than "VIRUS DETECTED IN USB E:"

                              @jgilbert OK by this metric the joyless souless husk is me, not you. But I still think things have gotten blown way out of proportion here. I'm just trying to counter the myth I see all over the place asking for automatically detaching chargers when batteries are full based on a belief that it is more efficient to do that (because it is a mistaken belief).
