@moof @viaduct_world I already deleted it from my test journey on Viaduct, but it was below 3000 km. Plus Interrail is not valid in Ukraine, of course.

@sam @tml Yes, but there is no way in hell you are going to make a 10 minute connection when the s-bahn is 9 minutes long…

@moof @sam I managed to mess up the times for that leg in that post; the follow-up is correct I think. But double-checking appreciated.

@moof @viaduct_world Luckily there are frequent trains between München Hbf and München Ost and another train to Bologna in the same hour (odd). And that one goes a longer route even. Or wait, I seem to have managed to enter a non-existent train into viaduct.world. The real RJ 89 departs at 15:43. Anyway, new total is 3124 km.

@moof @tml Now, for bonus points, use @jon’s rules and the longest geodesic distance.

@partim @bovine3dom Also, whilst it would maximise it to 3468km, which is the longest we’ve seen yet, I think that 07:15 London Euston to 08:01 London St Pancras connection is very tight given that you have to do security and passport control…

@moof @partim @bovine3dom if you decide that the Caledonian Sleeper won't arrive on time 🤡 then you can extend the starting point to Derby (arr. 0636), but not enough to surpass the other proposed itineraries.

(I would venture you can make the connection, if only just, even though it arrives at the furthest platform at Euston and even if you were in the last carriage... as long as it arrives on time.)

@bovine3dom @partim 3422km on that one, but I am still iffy on the 07:15-08:01 connection through London there

@moof interrail says to arrive there 35 minutes beforehand. doable with a brisk walk from Euston

i reckon it's solid enough for passenger rights. I'd be more worried about getting across Milan with only 20 minutes to spare for the sleeper (which your route does avoid but feels unsporting)

@bovine3dom @tops @partim I think my issue here is that whilst the sort of experienced traveller who would attempt to do this will have no issue with EES, it’s having to deal with the queue of people who have no idea what they are doing and complaining about it when they reach the control point and don’t have the requisite e-paperwork
