Finally got this TRS-80 online with #fujinet. What a wonderful community of brilliant minded developers and engineers. I used NETCAT to Telnet to a DX cluster just because it can. Watching spots scroll realtime on this 43 yr old computer is a bit surreal. #hamradio #trs80coco #retrocomputing

@kd6nfd I'm not particularly interested in most #retrocomputing but I'll make an exception for that, which really brings me back to my old trash-80 Color Computer 2 and good times back in the day.

I had the computer long before my ham radio license though!

@croyle @kd6nfd I attribute my success in my career as an IT consultant to owning a TRS-80 as a teen…. Because there was practically no software for it, and no local user group.

Anything I wanted it to do, I had to write myself. I wrote a (terrible) word processor, learned how to interact with the printer directly, made a (terrible) painting program that used the joystick to move the cursor and change the colour of a square…

My friends all had the C64, and the only thing they ever did with them is play games and pirate software.
